Arabia Moomin mug Moomin’s Day was launched on the author Tove Jansson’s birthday August 9th 2018. The mug was only sold in Finland and only for one day, on Tove’s birthday.
The mugs were sold out in record speed in Iittala stores, Moomin Shops and on Moomin.com online store. Since everyone who wanted the mug could not buy one, the prices immediately increased on second hand markets. Another Moomin’s day mug was released in 2021.
Moomin’s Day design
Moomin’s Day Moomin mug got its background design from Associates Newspapers’ sales brochure from 1955. The Moomin characters for this masterpiece were taken from Moomin novel “Moominland Midwinter”. Tove Slotte came up with this beautiful color scheme for the mug.
